The Modern day Job hunt
CV dropping isn’t enough. Here’s what you need to know.
Now, firstly, you need to understand that the job market is really saturated. No matter which field of engineering you are from, nowadays looking for a job is in itself a full-time job. So, you not only need to be proactive, but you literally need to hunt for jobs and at the same time be very strategic.
Now, usually, students during their final year or after graduation go to those recruitment drives and apply through LinkedIn advertisements in various companies and think it's sufficient.
But honestly, it's not. It's just what everyone is doing, and with this competition, only a few are selected.
Here's what you need to do. The first and foremost thing you need to do is to list down all the subfields within your field in which different companies are offering jobs.
Here's how to do it. Let's suppose you are a mechanical engineer.
Here's a list of subfields within mechanical engineering in which different companies offer roles:
1) Design Engineer
2) Manufacturing Engineer
3) Quality Control/Quality Assurance/Quality Engineer
4) Process Engineer
5) Production Engineer
6) Maintenance Engineer (could be a power plant or manufacturing industry)
7) MEP Engineer
8) Project Engineer
