Some memories become so precious that one can't forget them.

The great pine forest offered a chance, for a short time each year, to recreate the world in the image I wanted. I had no idea how much I’d miss it when my grandmother died and we stopped going each summer to our shack, later torn down to make way for new houses with amenities like doorbells, garages, and water you didn’t have to pump.
